Earth Day 2011 - Roma concert

The 20th of april there was a beautiful concert here in Roma (Galoppatoio di Villa Borghese), celebrating the Earth Day.
It started with some italian artists, amongst them I liked Roberto Angelini.
While we was waiting for the wonderful Patti Smith, a nice surprise: a videomessage from Peter Gabriel!

I was very happy :-)

When Patti Smith arrived, it was great. She is a living legend! And she sang some from her most known songs, with a great energy:

Ghost dance

Pissing in a river

Wing

Because the night

People have the power

Then Carmen Consoli, that I love very much, with several musicians and a string quartet. So many beautiful songs! All started with a deep sound: the simulation of an atomic bomb explosion about 80 km from here.
Then a song: Eco di Sirene

L'Ultimo Bacio

Then Madre Terra, a 'virtual' duet with Angelique Kidjo in video, it was very moving to me.

I remember also Fiori d'Arancio, and a song in sicilian dialect.
Carmen was very funny and deep at the same time.

Other songs:
In Bianco e Nero, Guarda l'Alba, AAA Cercasi

Venere

Mio zio

Amore di Plastica

A very beautiful concert! Great!!!

  1. Wow, what an extensive concert report again. It must have been an impressive concert!

I must also tell you about the Wall concert here in Helsinki on Wednesday April 27th. Led by Rogers Waters (not by Pink Floyd) it was spectacular concert with lots of impressive visual effects, video projections and of course the wall been made up during the concert. The Wall album was played through in whole. I have once seen Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, so this was a very nice complementary to that.

    all the best,

I saw Pink Floyd once, here in Roma; it was The Division Bell Tour (september 1994)... a great show...!
